Frequently Asked Questions
How old do I have to be to volunteer?
We accept volunteers 15-years-old and older. An adult chaperone (parent, guardian, youth pastor, youth leader, etc.) must accompany anyone under the age of 18-years-old with a 1 to 8 ratio of adult to minor.
Is there a specific time commitment?
It is up to you to decide how often you would like to volunteer. Volunteering with the North End Family Centre is relaxed, flexible in time commitment, and can fit into anyone's schedule. We want to work with your schedule; each person can commit to as many or as few hours as they would like.
Can I show up to volunteer anytime?
Please contact us in advance to schedule your volunteer time(s). We work to maintain a balanced schedule, ensuring we don’t have too many volunteers one day and not enough the next.
Can I volunteer if I don’t share the beliefs of the North End Family Centre?
Our volunteers come from varying faith and cultural backgrounds. We simply ask that you agree to respect and not detract from our Statement of Faith while volunteering with us. We ask volunteers to be warm in personality and accepting of people of various backgrounds and beliefs.
How will I know what to do when I volunteer?
We train all volunteers to perform their duties and we work hard to make sure volunteering is an enjoyable experience for all. Our staff is always present to give you direction and help you learn about the way we operate.
Is it safe to volunteer in the North End of Winnipeg?
We have taken steps to help create a safe environment. Our staff is always present so you will not be left to figure things out on your own. We work hard to create a friendly atmosphere and you will feel like a member of our community before you know it.
